Every Follower Should Have the Potential to be a customer

You know that this is how you need to run your business on Instagram right?!

It’s not about those follow numbers being super high, it’s about those follower numbers actually meaning something.

My number 1 piece of advice is to make sure you are taking care of your followers. Here are a few ways to do this:

  1. Say hello to new followers; you could drop them a quick, unassuming message just saying something like ‘hey, thanks for the follow; it’s really lovely to see you in my account. I hope it can help you in some way; let me know if you have any questions :)’

  2. Follow back your followers. Your followers have the potential to be customers so you need to know who they are and what they’re about. Follow them back and interact with them and make them feel seen. N.B. I am not saying follow every single follower though - that would be too much! Just follow back those who you think would be good and right for you.

  3. Spend time re-engaging with your followers. Block out time every month to spend time going through your followers list and finding out who they are and what they’re into. Leave them a stream of comments and likes in your wake and this will do two things. Firstly, it will help you understand your customers more. Secondly it will help them see your account again if they’ve not interacted with it a lot recently.

Treat your instagram account like your shop in real life and pay attention to everyone that comes through the door and take care of them once they’re inside.

Don’t just chase big numbers.

You could make as much money out of 50 solid followers who are all customers rather than having 10,000 followers of which only one or two actually want to spend money with you.

Any thoughts? Send me a DM, let’s talk!
